Pausing & stopping the bot
Hold the bot on one trade, stop it for good, or switch it off for a whole project.
| Action | What happens |
|---|---|
| Pause | The bot keeps listening (vendor messages are still recorded) but sends and decides nothing. Its clocks stop, so nothing times out and no vendor is “late” because of the pause. |
| Resume | It carries on from where it was, with deadlines pushed back by the time paused. |
| Stop | Permanent. The trade moves to review (one trade.escalated) and a person resolves it. No vendor messages are sent after a stop. |
Use the buttons on the trade page, or the API: pause, resume, stop.GET /v1/trades/{id} includes the bot’s status.
Switching the bot off for a project#
The Bot on switch in the project header turns it off for everything in that project: trades in progress pause where they are, and new trades are refused with 409 bot_paused — so your system keeps them for your own team instead of queueing behind a paused bot. Turning it back on resumes the paused trades.
Paused by Kardlane#
Kardlane can also pause the bot for your organisation (or everyone) — for example during a WhatsApp or AI incident. You’ll see a banner, the same refusal applies to new trades, and everything resumes automatically when it’s switched back on.
